Active city breaks: kayaking in Venice Venice Kayak
Escape the crowds and experience Venice the authentic way, on the water.
Gondolas, private water taxis and Venice’s Vaporetto are all great ways of getting around but our top tip for memorable moments is to paddle your way through the city on one of Venice Kayak’s guided tours.
Hop into a single or double kayak and meander through the city’s canals and past the palaces of the Grand Canal before proceeding to the quieter waterways.
The tours are led by skilled guides who will also fill you in on local history and art as you go.
In addition to the regular half and full-day trips, the company runs trips to the islands of Burano and Torcello, with time for lunch and some sightseeing. But if you are aiming for unforgettable, watch the sunset over the lagoon and then paddle down an eerily quiet Grand Canal under a twinkling night sky on a night tour.
Tours are generally for groups of two to six people. Full-day trips usually cover around 12-15 km and are geared up to people with a reasonable level of kayaking experience.
For those who have never tried kayaking before and under 18’s, there are double kayaks. The minimum age for children is 8.
