Best of Florence with DavidSee the city’s top attractions, including the Duomo and Michelangelo’s David, while learning about the fascinating story of the Medici family
First on the itinerary is the Accademia Gallery, where your fast-access ticket allows you to skip the long lines and get straight inside to admire Michelangelo’s David, the sculptural masterpiece that the Renaissance master carved from a single block of Carrara marble. Next, you’ll reach the heart of the historic centre to visit the 13th-century Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, beautifully topped by Brunelleschi’s glorious dome, one of the largest in the world and an engineering masterpiece. You’ll also stop at the Baptistery nearby to see the stunning gilded bronze doors that the Florentine sculptor and goldsmith Lorenzo Ghiberti made after winning a fierce competition organised by the merchants' corporation. You’ll then continue the tour through the streets of Florence to explore the sights nestled within them. Highlights you’ll see include Piazza della Signoria with Palazzo Vecchio, which was once the seat of the government under the Medicis, the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and the city’s famous leather market. Along the way, your guide will tell you all about the legendary Medici family, their rise to power, and their impact on Florence's art and architecture.
